Our Halloween project ( Part 2 )

The story of our little pumpkin touched us so much that we decided to get a little bit involved with the pumpkins...
First, we watched a video on youtube about the cycle of life of pumpkins

and then we decided to '' cut to the chase''...

Carving a pumpkin is a relatively easy task so we decided to perform it in class.

After we opened and emptied our pumpkin, I put the fibers an seeds into zip lock bags so as the students to touch them...

(  a big ''eeewwww'' was an expectable reaction)

We created our own pumpkins using orange paper, orange yarn for the pumpkin's fibers and the dried seeds we collected  from our pumpkin...

Our Halloween project! ( Part 1 )

Halloween was really special this year as we decided with the students of B2 class to organize a super Halloween project with many different and interesting activities!

To get us in the mood we watched a presentation on Halloween, we discussed the traditions and supestitions behind this festival and  we talked about the symbols of Halloween, one of which is the pumpkin!

We read the very famous children's book '' The Ugly Pumpkin'' by Dave Horowitz. (Luckily, the book arrived on time from the U.S.A.)

The ugly pumpkin is actually the story of a pumpkin that wasn't loved or...bought by anyone during the Halloween because of its weird shape! The other characters of the book, among whom skeletons, witches and haunted trees sneered at ''him''  and as a result he felt alone and miserable.

Fortunately his luck changed when he bumped into a garden full of peculiar pumpkins just like him! This made him realize that he wasn't a pumpkin but a squash. In the end he finds many friends that love him just in time for Thanksgiving!

The creation of our class tree was really challenging with the B1 and B2 classes!

The students drew and cut thick paper with their names written on. They stick it on the tree that I created an of course every student managed to recognize and read his/her own name and the names of his/her classmates...

United Kingdom land morphology!

Learn about the United Kingdom land morphology.

With the students of 6th Grade we decided to learn more about the land morphology of the United Kingdom! 

We started with the first unit of our English textbook!

We discussed about the Balkan Peninsula and its landforms. Then the students grabbed the opportunity to discover the land morphology of the culture studied.

TOPIC ''HEALTHY FOOD- HEALTHY ME''

B Class 2014-2015

We began a very interesting and enlightening journey in order to get to know what we eat, why we eat it and what a healthy diet really means.
My students were enthusiastic throughout the project and learned a lot of new things.

For starters, we chose to read a book about healthy eating and healthy food.

The students learned so many things about the food groups, what each food group offers, the food pyramid and its importance and of course the vitamins contained in each food group.

Then we watched a very interesting video on our digestive system.In order to understand why healthy food is good for us we have to understand the journey of the food in our body.

We watched tips on children's healthy eating by a famous Greek cook...

We answered questionnaires about our food habits...

and lastly they worked in groups to create ''the home of food groups''.

Οι δραστηριότητες αυτές έγιναν στα πλαίσια της Ευέλικτης Ζώνης με τη Β Δημοτικού.

TEACHERS4EUROPE

Στα πλαίσια του προγράμματος T4E κάναμε με τους μαθητές της Ε τάξης του 2ου Δημοτικού Σχολείου Σουφλίου δραστηριότητες σχετικά με την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση, μάθαμε τις χώρες, τις σημαίες και τις γλώσσες που ομιλούνται και δημιουργήσαμε τις δικές μας ψηφιακές αφίσες!

Ονομάσαμε το πρόγραμμα Europe4all καθώς το μήνυμα που θέλουμε να περάσουμε είναι μια Ευρώπη ειρηνική όπου όλοι οι πολίτες είναι ίσοι και ζούνε ισότιμα κάτω από την Ευρωπαϊκή σημαία.

Ισότητα, αλληλεγγύη, όλοι μαζί ενωμένοι στην πολυμορφία είναι μερικές από τις αξίες που πρεσβεύει η Ε.Ε. και τις οποίες θέλαμε να αναδείξουμε μέσα από τις δραστηριότητές μας.
